1) characters’ inability to control their fates. Protagonists of gothic tales are usually subject to forces beyond their control, much like women are subject to male dominance in society. 2) high emotions experienced by characters suffering from a sense of doom. Since women often could not control their own lives, their emotions were the only thing they had. 3) women threatened by powerful males. Such was the day to day reality for most women back then.

Three elements of gothic literature that mirror the situation of women in the late 19th and eary 20th centuries (and, one could argue, nowadays) are: 1) characters’ inability to control their fates.

1pt A chemist investigates properties of various substances. Which is an inference of the investigation?
romanna [79]

Answer:

C. Hydrogen bonding is stronger in water than in acetone

Explanation:

When the chemist investigates properties of various substances. The inference of the investigation is that "Hydrogen bonding is stronger in water than in acetone"

The reason Option C is the correct answer is because it gives an insight that an experiment was carried out in the course of the investigation.

Then after such an experiment, an inference was made.

Other options are correct which shows the properties of the elements but they don't give us insight on the experiment carried out.

Therefore, option C is the correct answer.
