Marco polo believed to have journeyed across Asia at the height of the Mongol Empire. Upon reaching China, Marco Polo entered the court of powerful Mongol Ruler Kublai Khan, who dispatched him on trips to help administer the realm. Marco polo remained abroad for 24 years.
On his second voyage, before he left Spain on his second voyage, Columbus had been directed by Ferdinand and Isabella to maintain friendly, even loving, relations with the Natives in the new world. He set sail from Spain on September 24th, 1493
