first find a common denominator

the common denominator is 8

since the denominator of the fraction 7/8 is already 8, it stays the same

now for the second fraction, since the denominator is 4 and you multiply 4 by 2 to get 8, multiply the numerator of the fraction1/4 by 2 as well

now your two fractions are 7/8-2/8

since the denominators are the same you just have to subtract the numerators

7-2=5

the answer is 5/8

Hoped this helped :)

Y=2x−1
lord [1]

Answer:

(1,1) is a solution of the system.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's solve the system.

y = 2x - 1

5x - 4y = 1

In the first equation, y is already separated as a function of x. So we replace in the second equation;

5x - 4(2x - 1) = 1

5x - 8x + 4 = 1

4 - 1 = 8x - 5x

x = 1

y = 2x - 1 = 2(1) - 1 = 1

(1,1) is a solution of the system.

Which is an asymptofe of the graph the function y=cot(x-2π/3)
Shalnov [3]

Hello.

C) x=4π/3

The variable x in the cotangent argument has a unit coefficient, so the period is π, just as it is in the parent function cot(x).

Can you graph y = cot(x)? By subtracting the constant π/6 from the argument, that graph is translated to the right by π/6. Just as with cot(x), it is decreasing everywhere.

When looking at the graph of a 5th degree function, how can you determine if all of the zeros of the function are real?
Finger [1]

Answer:

If it cuts x-axis 5 times.

Step-by-step explanation:

When we look at the graph of a function we can see its real roots by looking at its graph

The intersecting points that is the number of times a line cutting x-axis will be the real root of the function

So, by looking at the 5th degree function the number of time that function cuts x-axis will be the number of real roots.

So, if we need to say all the zeroes or roots of the function are real means it will cut the x-axis 5 times.

Because a function will have the root equal to its degree.
