Liam has the higher average because his median is to the right of Vicki's median. The median is visually shown as the vertical line inside the box. For Liam, his median is 15. Vicki's median is some value between 10 and 15 (closer to 10).

Liam is also more consistent. How can we tell? Note how Liam's box and whisker plot has a shorter/smaller box. Also the min and max are closer together as well. The range is smaller for Liam. The interquartile range (IQR) is also smaller for Liam. Liam's scores are closer together. Vicki's scores are more spread out due to a larger range and IQR.

Notes
1) The IQR is defined as the horizontal distance from the left edge to the box to the right edge

2) IQR = Q3 - Q1 where Q1 and Q3 are the first and third quartiles respectively

3) Q1 is the left edge of the box; Q3 is the right edge of the box

The longest side of an isosceles right triangle measures 16m. What is the perimeter ofthe triangle?
Andreyy89

Answer:

In right triangle hypotenus(side facing angle 90)is the longest

Step-by-step explanation:

lets say hyp=side1 +side2 were(side1=side2 in isocseles..) and Let x bet the length of side 1

So by applying phythegoras theorem :

hyp^2=x^2+x^2

16^2 =2x^2

2x^2=256

x^2=128

\sqrt{x { }^{2} }  =  \sqrt{128}

x=

8 \sqrt{2}

Parameter=16+8

8 \sqrt{2 }  + 8 \sqrt{2 }  + 16

16 \sqrt{2}  + 16

Find an n^th degree polynomial with real coefficients satisfying the given conditions. n = 3; -2 and 2 i are zeros; f(-1) = 15.
Ira Lisetskai [31]
So, n = 3, is a 3rd degree polynomial, roots are -2 and 2i

well 2i is a complex root, or imaginary, and complex root never come all by their lonesome, their sister is always with them, the conjugate, so if 0+2i is there, 0-2i is there too

so, the roots are -2, 2i, -2i

now... \bf \begin{cases}
x=-2\implies x+2=0\implies &(x+2)=0\\
x=2i\implies x-2i=0\implies &(x-2i)=0\\
x=-2i\implies x+2i=0\implies &(x+2i)=0
\end{cases}
\\\\\\
(x+2)\underline{(x-2i)(x+2i)}=0\\\\
-----------------------------\\\\
\textit{difference of squares}
\\ \quad \\
(a-b)(a+b) = a^2-b^2\qquad \qquad
a^2-b^2 = (a-b)(a+b)\\\\
-----------------------------\\\\
(x+2)[x^2-(2i)^2]=0\implies (x+2)[x^2-(2^2i^2)]=0
\\\\\\
(x+2)[x^2-(4\cdot -1)]=0\implies (x+2)(x^2+4)=0
\\\\\\
x^3+2x^2+4x+8=0

now, if we check f(-1), we end up with 5, not 15
hmmm

so, how to turn our 5 to 15? well, 3*5, thus

\bf 3(x^3+2x^2+4x+8)=f(x)\implies 3(5)=f(-1)\implies 15=f(-1)

usually, when we get the roots, or zeros, if any common factor that is a constant is about, they get in a division with 0 and get tossed, and aren't part of the roots, thus, we can simply add one, in this case, the common factor of 3, to make the 5 turn to 15

Write a function rule for the area of rectangle whose length is 2ft more than its width. What is the area of the rectangle when
Marianna [84]

According to the problem, the length is 2 feet more than its width, which is expressed as the following function

l=w+2

If the width is x, then the length is x+2.

We can express the following function for the area

A(x)=x(x+2)

Let's replace the width x = 11 ft.

A(11)=11\cdot(11+2)=11(13)=143<h2>Hence, the area is 143 square feet. </h2><h2>The function for the area is</h2>A(x)=x(x+2)

Where x represents the width.
