Are Society expectations and norms good for us? Why or why not

English

I personally am against the 'regular' society expectations of humans. Take into consideration something as simple as how our everyday society views those who are "beautiful". Among all the diversity of our country, there are so many different perspectives, and this causes the true meaning of "beauty" to be lost. The way that the majority of our society views a certain characteristic could alter a persons mind so much, that they will eventually conform and give into these trends in hopes to better themselves, but in reality, they are losing the traits that truly defined them in the first place.
