Answer: By animating The Lord of the Rings, Baksi made this wonderful story available for people of all ages. I can't imagine a 4-year-old reading the trilogy, but they might sit down to watch the animated version. One disadvantage of making a movie out of any book is that you lose different parts of the story. Advantages include: expanding your audience, bringing the story to light again, upping its popularity, and being able to bring the words on the page to life.
