Answer:

17ft wide

Step-by-step explanation:

The room is 9 by 19ft

Length (x) = 19ft

Width(y) = 9ft

Area of the rug = 119ft^2

x*y = 119 ...........(1)

For the second equation we will make sure the strip around the room is uniform in size

9 - x = 19 - y

-x = 19 - 9 -y

-x = 10 - y

x = y - 10 ..........(2)

Put the value x in equation 1

(y - 10)y = 119

y^2 - 10y = 119

y^2 - 10y - 119 = 0

a = 1, b = -10, c= -119

Use quadratic formula to solve the equation

y = (-b +/-√b^2 -4ac) / 2a

y = [-(-10) +/- √ (-10)^2 - 4(1)(-119)] /2(1)

y = (10 +/- √100 + 476) /2

y = (10+/-√ 576 ) / 2

y = (10 +/- 24) / 2

y = (10 + 24) /2 or (10 - 24)/2

y = 34/2 or -14/2

y = 17 or -7

y = 17 ft

Recall that x = y - 10

x = 17 - 10

x = 7ft

Help someone please!! don’t understand
Citrus2011 [14]
Radical 2 = 1.4 So 1.4 * 6 = 8.4

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

8.4^2 + 8.4^2 = square root of c

70.56 + 70.56 = 141.12 ≈ 141

Then you must find the square root of 141 which is 11.874 ≈ 11.9

Side a = 8.4
Side b = 8.4
Side c = 11.9

Answer:

A: y=1/3x+5

B: y=-2x+9

C: y=-3

D:y=2x+9

E: y=-10x+80

F:y=x-2

#1 rodney's error for

y=30x+10 is that he started off at 30 but he had to start off at 10 so it starts at (0,10) (1,40) (2,70) and keep going on by adding one to the x value and 30 to the y value

#2 rodneys error for

y=-1/2x+5 is that he went up by 1/2 instead of going down. it's a negative 1/2 so he had to go down

#3 Rodneys error for

y=x-2 is that he didn't start at (0.-2)

I'm not sure about the last picture but i think that it's
