During the Jim Crow era a lot of white people would use hate speech and just be mean to African Americans all the time. By keeping them separate, African Americans wouldn’t be harassed by them. However there shouldn’t be segregation because people shouldn’t be practicing hate speech. Segregation wouldn’t be tackling the problem, it would be deflecting it.
