Answers:

44x + 10 = 186

x = 4

Writing the equation:

Look at the equation carefully. What numbers do we know already to put into the equation?

Well, we know that the total number that they all spent was $186, so that's the number we're trying to get the equation to equal. (Where I got = 186 from)

We also know that there was an extra $10 spent on parking, so we add the + 10 to the equation.

Lastly, we know that each person spent $44 on a ticket. However, we don't know how many people were there. That's where the variable (x) comes into play, making your equation 44x + 10 = 186

Solving the equation:

To solve the equation, you have to break it apart.

We know that there were 10 extra dollars spent, therefore, you have to subtract 10 from the total money spent, or in other words, move the constant to the right hand side and change it's sign (44x = 186 - 10). After solving the subtraction part, that will leave you with a new equation, 44x = 176.

Finally, you divide both sides by 44, and that will get you your answer of x = 4.

4 people went to the game.

Algebraic expression for 8+6q+q
irina1246 [14]
All you can do to this expression is simplify.

You need to combine all "like terms." There are two q terms so you need to combine those. To combine "like terms", simply add their coefficients. 6q has a coefficient of 6 and q has a coefficient of 1. So:

6q + 1q = 7q

Therefore your end result is:

8 +7q

A new car was valued at $28,000, and it's value depreciated to $14,000 over the next 3 years. Use the exponential equation for d
kompoz [17]
The exponential equation (in thousands) is:
V = 28 e^{-rt}
plug in t=3 yrs, and solve for 'r'.
14 = 28 e^{-3r} \\  \\ \frac{1}{2} = e^{-3r}  \\  \\ ln(\frac{1}{2}) = -3r \\  \\ r = \frac{ln(\frac{1}{2})}{-3} = 0.231 = 23.1%

Find value of car when t = 10
V = 28e^{-2.31} = 2.779
