Three-Point Turn
sleet_krkn [62]
I think it's the first one. Throughout the story we see Becky struggling with the idea that she might fail this time. Really she is making the possible outcome seem worse than it actually is (the outcome being that she could fail the test again), and Justin helps her calm down and realize that it really isn't that big of a deal if she doesn't pass.

In a paragraph of at least three sentences, explain the mood of this excerpt from Little Brother. Provide details from the text
padilas [110]

Answer:

The mood here is one of uncertainty, the character is not exactly afraid but he is most certainly in an unknown place. His first reaction is to take in his surroundings and analyze his position. This shows ,in this scene at least, that the character is not one to be scared of unusual circumstances.

In "No Gumption," when Russell's sister says things like "You shouldn't waste money" and "You shouldn't eat before dinner," what
gayaneshka [121]

Answer: A. Russell's sister takes after their mother, but he does not.

In the story, there is no implication of Russell not being obedient. He is so obedient he performs the job he hates everyday because his mother tells him to do so. There is also no sign of Russell's sister wanting to become a writer.

The author mentions that he has learned all of his mother's maxims as well, so that is not a difference between them. The difference is that his sister feels compelled to say them, and means them, because they align with what she thinks. This is because the sister is more similar to their mother than Russell.

Could someone explain to me the be going to, thanks
mamaluj [8]

Answer:

'Be going to' has TWO meanings, both of which express future actions.

'Be going to' can be used to make predictions.

Ex. According to the weather report, it is going to be cloudy tomorrow.

'Be going to' is also used to express a prior plan (i.e., a plan made before the moment of speaking.)

Ex. I am going to attend my brother's graduation on Saturday.
