Answer:  C   3x + 5y = 1

Solution:

Step 1: To find the equation of line first using both the coordinates given on the graph find the slope using the formula below.

The coordinates are ( -3, 2 ) and ( 2, -1)

m = y2-y1/x2-x1

m = -1-2 / 2- (-3)

m = -3 / 5

Step 2: Now to find line of equation of line we need to find the y intercept using the equation:

y = mx + b

Where

y = y coordinate  m = slope   x = x coordinate    b = y intercept

Choose any one pair of coordinates to find the y intercept. I will be using  (2,  -1)

y = mx + b

-1 = ( -3 / 5) (2) + b

-1 = -6 / 5 + b       ( Don't forget to take the LCM)

-1 = -6/5 + 5b

-5+6 = 5b

1/5 = b

so the equation of line is

y = -3/5 x + 1/5

5y = -3x + 1

3x + 5y = 1

What is the equation of the line that passes through the point (-6,-6)and has a slope of -\frac{1}{3}− ?
Gnesinka [82]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  y +6 = (-1/3)(x +6)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given a point and a slope, it is appropriate to use the point-slope form to represent the equation:

  y -k = m(x -h) . . . . . line with slope m through point (h, k)

For your point and slope, the equation is ...

  y -(-6) = -1/3(x -(-6))

  y +6 = -1/3(x +6)

__

Of course, this can be rearranged to whatever form you need.

  y = -1/3x -8 . . . . slope-intercept form

  x +3y = -24 . . . . standard form
