     Both poems were pubished on the same decade, the 1920's, where there was the ascension of two American music genres, the blues and the jazz, from the Black community to mainstream apreciation later. The poems express the sensations of the subjects hearing the music, and characterize the sounds or musical representations that are being played.

     Jazz Fantasia was written by Carl Sandburg and published in 1920. The weary blues was written by Langston Hughes and  published in 1926.
