Simplifying is similar to division because simplification use division in order to get smaller (or 'simpler') terms in a given fraction. To do that, numerator and denominator are divided by the greatest common factor. For example, 4/10 can be simplified to 2/5, dividing 4 and 10 by 2.

When you simpilfy a fraction you make it smaller. When you divide a number you make it smaller.
