In lecture we discussed the features of living organisms that most scientists would agree are reasonable. Viruses have some, but
not all, of these characteristics. The viruses are microorganisms composed of genetic material protected by a protein envelope, and that´s how they work and live. This protein membrane, (only present in some viruses), is carbon based.
By they way of fuction, they evolved along whit the cell in wich they are introduced, since they reproduce with it.
Virus is an organism that is incapable of replicating on its own, hence, it needs to infect a living host to perform this task. According to the question, living organisms exhibits certain characteristics that confirms the possession of life in them. Virus is a set of organism that exhibits some of these characteristics but not all.
Virus is an organism with a genetic material surrounded by a protein coat called CAPSID. Viruses are not composed of cells like other living organisms do. They do not possess the organnelles that makes up a cell in order for it to function. Even in a host cell, viruses do not perform this functions, they only replicate their genetic material in their host. Hence, due to this reason, viruses are not considered living things.
They code for all of the amino acids that make up the proteins for each gene.....if one gets misplaced or changed it can change the whole amino acid make up thus changing the protein make up rendering the protein ineffective or non functioning
