Answer:

The correct option is d.

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope of a line is

Slope=\frac{Rise}{Run}

Slope of line AB is

m_{AB}=\frac{BD}{DA}

Slope of line AC is

m_{AC}=\frac{CE}{EA}

Triangles ABD and ACE are similar right triangles, therefore the corresponding sides are proportional.

\frac{AB}{AC}=\frac{BD}{CE}=\frac{AD}{AE}

Using last two ratios, we get

\frac{BD}{CE}=\frac{AD}{AE}

The required ratio is

\frac{BD}{DA}=\frac{CE}{EA}

Therefore the correct option is d.

on a large college campus, 84% of the students report drinking alcohol within the past month, 33% report using some type of toba
Natasha_Volkova [10]

Answer:  0.31

Step-by-step explanation:

Let A denotes the event that the students report drinking alcohol and B denotes the students report using some type of tobacco product .

Given : P(A) =0.84   ; P(B)=0.33    and        P(A∪B)=0.86

We know that P(A\cap B)=P(A)+P(B)-P(A\cup B)

Then, the probability that the student both drunk alcohol and used tobacco in the past month is given by :-

 P(A\cap B)=0.84+0.33-0.86=0.31

Hence, the probability that the student both drunk alcohol and used tobacco in the past month = 0.31

A spring has an original length L inches. When a weight of x pounds is suspended from the spring, its new length y is given by t
mariarad [96]
The way I figured this one out was saying that if it takes 2lbs to stretch it to 12 inches and 5lbs to stretch to 18 inches that means that 3 additional pounds = 6 inches. Therefore, each additional pound is 2 inches. We know already that with 2 lbs it was 12 inches in length and we can also say that 2 lbs = 4 inches. So subtract 4 from 12 and you end up with the answer of 8 inches.
