Benny the Barber (see Question 1) is considering the addition of a second chair. Customers would be selected for a haircut on a

FCFS basis from those waiting. Benny has assumed that both barbers would take an average of 20 minutes to give a haircut, and that business would remain unchanged with customers arriving at a rate of two per hour. Find the following information to help Benny decide if a second chair should be added: Part (a): The average number of customers waiting. Part (b): The average time a customer waits. Part (c): The average time a customer is in the shop.

According to the information presented, Benny should decide not to add a second chair because the average number of clients waiting is 1 (very low), the average waiting time for a client is 10 minutes (very low), and the average time a customer is in the store is 20 minutes (very low).

According to the information, an average of 2 clients arrive at the hairdresser for every hour (60 min) and each cut takes a maximum of 20 minutes. Therefore, the hairdresser would have an average of 40 minutes busy and 20 minutes free for each hour.

Additionally, customers who must wait do not have to spend a long time waiting in the store because the maximum waiting time is 10 minutes (in the case that both customers arrive at the same time).

Below is a graph where the information of both cases is compared (with an additional chair and without an additional chair) and it is inferred that an additional chair is not necessary because the number of clients waiting and the waiting time is not high.

A quadratic equation is shown below: 4x2 − 12x + 9 = 0

A)

The discriminant (radicand) is √(b^2-4ac), let us call this "d" for the discriminant.

If:

d<0, there are no real solutions (though there are two imaginary ones)

d=0, there is one real solution

d>0, there are two real solutions.

In this case, d=12^2-4(4)9

d=144-144

d=0

So there is one real solution.

B)

9x^2-30x+25=0

9x^2-15x-15x+25=0

3x(3x-5)-5(3x-5)=0

(3x-5)(3x-5)=0

(3x-5)^2=0

x=5/3

x=1 2/3

If a baseball player has 5 hits in 20 at bats, what is the probability in the decimal to the thousandths place that he will get
k0ka [10]

Answer:

Probability = 0.250

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Hits = 5

Bats = 20

Required

Determine the probability of hit in next at-bat

This question illustrates theoretical probability and the required probability is calculated using:

Probability = \frac{Events\ Occurrence}{Trials}

In this case, we have:

Probability = \frac{Hits}{Bats}

Probability = \frac{5}{20}

Probability = 0.250
