The War of 1812 was extremely divisive . Not only does Canada view this war as its own "War of Independence", but, during the Ha

rtford Convention, New England nearly seceded from the United States. It would be as if California or Oregon had attempted to secede during WW II and join China or Japan.
Do you think the Hartford Convention was right to think about seceding from the United States? If they had seceded in during the War of 1812, would we still have had a Civil War 45 years later?

Answer:

The civil war would have occurred anyways. There was serious underpinning dismay in society of that time period. And we fully do not understand what the misgivings were of that time.

The part of the mantle called the _____ is made of soft rock that bends like plastic
DENIUS [597]
The correct answer is the astenosphere. It's part of the earth's crust that's just below the lithosphere and it's really susceptible to plastic flow because the resistance to it is very low. This is where scientists believe that convection occurs in the mantle. It's a very weak and easily deformed piece of the crust.

How did even northern states limit the freedoms of blacks even as they decried the expansion of slavery?
Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer: Passing laws that limited the movement and freedom of blacks

Explanation:

Even though the whites in the Northern territories viewed slavery as a moral wrong and a stain on the moral fibre of the United States, they did not believe that Black people should be entitled to the same rights as them.

To keep blacks at a certain social level and to limit the amount of blacks in their territories, some states passed laws that restricted the movements of blacks.

States like California and Kansas did it subtly while states like Iowa, Illinois and Indiana banned blacks entirely from their states.
