fantile Paralysis The Citation for Dr. Salk is as follows: Because of a signal and historic contribution to human welfare by Dr. Jonas E. Salk in his development of a vaccine to prevent paralytic poliomyelitis, I, Dwight D. Eisenhower, President of the United States, present to him this citation for his extraordinary achievement. The work of Dr. Salk is in the highest tradition of selfless and dedicated medical research. He has provided a means for the control of a dread disease. By helping scientists in other countries with technical information; by offering to them the strains of seed virus and professional aid so that the production of vaccine can be started by them everywhere; by welcoming them to his laboratory that they may gain a fuller knowledge, Dr. Salk is a benefactor of mankind. His achievement, a credit to our entire scientific community, does honor to all the people of the United States. Answer the following question based on the President Dwight D. Eisenhower's citation: The president is proud that Dr. Salk's work is extending beyond the United States. Which of the following is not a step Dr. Salk has taken to assist foreign countries? Dr. Salk has assisted foreign countries by providing technical information. Dr. Salk has helped foreign countries begin to produce the vaccine themselves. Answer:

According to President Dwight D. Eisenhower's Citation, the following statement was not a <em>step</em> that Dr. Salk took to assist foreign countries "<em>Dr. Salk has traveled and given the polio vaccine to children in foreign countries</em>."

Explanation:

We need to examine each step given in the options and compare them to those reported in President Dwight D. Eisenhower's Citation.

By the way, it is also important to notice that all statements in President Eisenhower's Citation are there to reinforce the argument that he was proud that of Dr. Salk's work reaching beyond the United States.

<h3>Comparison of statements</h3>

"Dr. Salk has assisted foreign countries by providing technical information." This step is described in the Citation as "By helping scientists in other countries with technical information."

"Dr. Salk has helped foreign countries begin to produce the vaccine themselves." This step is expressed in the Citation as "By offering to them the strains of seed virus and professional aid so that the production of vaccine can be started by them everywhere."

"Dr. Salk has offered foreign scientists the opportunity to tour his laboratory." This step is reported in the Citation as "By welcoming them to his laboratory that they may gain a fuller knowledge."

"Dr. Salk has traveled and given the polio vaccine to children in foreign countries." There is <em>no mention</em> of this into President Eisenhower's Citation.

So, "Dr. Salk has traveled and given the polio vaccine to children in foreign countries" cannot be considered as a step to assist foreign countries in using the vaccine to prevent paralytic poliomyelitis, according to President Eisenhower's Citation.

A metallic bond:

  • Joins the atoms of a metal to that of another metal
  • Are quite strong
  • Lead to the formation on materials that have high melting points and high boiling points.

The bonding of copper and tin is therefore a metallic bond as both of these are metals. Bronze is therefore a product of metallic bonding which is why it has a high melting point and a high boiling point.

In conclusion, bronze is made from metallic bonding.
