a) growth: cells divide in order to grow and get larger

b) replace: almost millions of cells die each day. To replace those cells the body cells divide

c) reproduce: body cells divide in order to reproduce more cells

2. Mitosis: the type of cell division in which two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosomes arise from a single parent cell.

3. Meiosis: the type of cell division that results in four daughter cells each with half number of chromosomes of parent cells as in the production of gametes(sex cells) and plant spores .
