The Supreme Court is the highest court in the United States. It has limited jurisdiction to decide on a case. It has the right to preside over specific cases. It is also an appeals court for cases involving the constitutional law. The Supreme court can hold a limited review on cases referred up from a lower court. Some of the original cases the supreme court can hear are a crime that takes place under a violation of federal law, international trade disputes, disputes where the United States is involved, and disputes where the individuals involved live in different states.

Madison's Gamble. Napoleon saw his chance with Macon's Bill
No 2 -- Madison "gambled" that the threat of seeing the US trade
exclusively with France would lead British to repeal their restrictions. He
accepted the French offer as evidence of repeal. His gamble failed and he saw no choice but to
re-establish the embargo against Britain alone -- meant the end of neutrality.
