Founded by Osama bin Laden, which was considered the most dangerous international terrorist group in the 1990s and early 2000s?
sashaice [31]

The correct answer is definitely Al Qaeda. It was founded in 1988 by Osama bib Laden during the Soviet War of Afghanistan (1979-1989). He create it because he deeply hated the West for what he perceived as an alleged Jewish-Christian world conspiracy to attack Islam. The USA and the West had trained Islamic mujahideen (Islamic fighters of Jihad, or “holy war”) in Afghanistan and other countries to fight the Soviets there. They provided them with modern weapons and funding. Near the end of the war, Bin Laden decided to expand Jihad against the West and all its allies, especially Israel. Because these terrorists had been trained by the US and its allies, and because they still had the modern weapons the US gave them to fight the Soviets, added to the fact that Bin Laden himself was part of one of the richest families in Saudi Arabia, that meant that Al Qaeda had a large amount of trained and experience fighter to train even more Islamic jihadists who had access to modern American weaponry and Saudi funding. This made them the most powerful terrorist organization during the 1990s (1998 American Embassy bombings in Tanzania and Kenya, the USS Cole bombing and then the September 11th World Trade Center attacks) and the early 2000s.
