Answer:

The median is 19.5 or 20 as a tangible value.

Step-by-step explanation:

The median is like the middle number in a data set. When there is an odd amount of numbers in the data set, just count both sides of the data set to find the odd one out - or the middle number. When there is an even amount of numbers in the data set (like in this problem) - you have to make a couple of your steps a little like the ones you would use to solve Mean. (Stay tuned for a lot of counting/adding/dividing in these types of problems.)

Sorry for this long answer that took ages to right - I was just making sure you understand ALL of these concepts well!

The Data set is: {32,15,6,18,21,40,10,24,8,21,11,23,12,24,36,24,17,29,16,15}

There are 20 numbers in the set.

*Tip: At first, the way the graph is shown in the picture, it threw me off because I don't know which order the numbers are supposed to be in due to the two boxes of 10. Then I remembered that it DOES NOT matter anyway!:

You are supposed to line the numbers up from acceding OR descending order.

SORTED Data set: {40, 36, 32, 29, 24, 24, 24, 23, 21, 21, 18, 17, 16, 15, 15, 12, 11, 10, 8, 6

}

That means that the closest numbers to being the middle one are 21, and 18.

This is what I meant before when I said that "When there is an even amount of numbers in the data set....make a couple of your steps a little like the ones you would use to solve Mean":

Find the AVERAGE of the two numbers.

*TIP: If that sounds familiar, that is very similar to a Mean average, a Slope, and the answer/point of intersection you would get from Rise over Run.

*Find the Median/average (the middle pair of numbers is divided by two) this way: 21+18 = 39. 39/2 (the 2 is the amount halfway between) = 19.5.

*TIP: If you need to calculate the other things you may need to calculate on this data set: The step of dividing by two is different than if you had to calculate Mean. If you had to calculate that but got mixed up like I did (I have not done these problems in 2 YEARS), you might THINK to add 21+18 = 39 then divide it by the count of 20. 39/20 = 1.95 - that is the WRONG answer and decimal place - a different on than what you need. If you had to calculate Mean, you would have to be stuck doing a thing that you might think is MEAN. Adding all this: {40, 36, 32, 29, 24, 24, 24, 23, 21, 21, 18, 17, 16, 15, 15, 12, 11, 10, 8, 6

}; together to make: the sum of 402. Next, divide: by 20. 402/20 = 20.1. This will give you: 20.1.

*To find Range: The smallest number is 6, and the largest is 40. 40-6 = 34. This is the range of the numbers in the data set and where it begins/ends.

*Lastly, to find the Mode, just count the numbers in the data set. The number that appears the MOST is your data set. 24 seems to be it (It had a 3-time appearance.) If more than one number appears most - they are ALL correct, and are ALL part of the answer. I.E., 21 and 15 both appear twice so the mode would be 21 AND 15 if the 24 appeared less often or was nonexistent.

*Tip: These types of data answers (mean, median, mode, range) can be used to be made into a chart or graph - such as a bar graph or pie chart. ALWAYS remember to put your data set in proper ASCENDING order no matter HOW MANY NUMBERS there are - from smallest to largest. (Rather than descending like I told you before, haha.) Not only does it make your work neater; you have a better chance of getting a good or better grade if you messed up elsewhere because you at least did the ranging correctly. ;)

ANYWAY...Your answer is:

The Median (number of service upgrades sold by the 20 employees) is 19.5; but since this is a number that is NOT money...round up or down (if the question tells you to) to the nearest whole number. In this case, since the .5 is a number that is either 5 or over, round up to .5 more, or *20*; since you can't REALLY have 19 and a HALF service upgrades, tee-hee.

* The Median (number of service upgrades sold by the 20 employees) is 19.5 - or (for the answer to make sense in a real-life context) 20.

- Thankfully, there are no outliers (numbers outside of the data value's range to mess things up with an extremely small or large number.

* Last tip: Out of Median, Mean, Mode and Ranger, Median and Mode can be the easiest one to figure out - keep practicing! Hope this helped! I would recommend taking a snip-it, desktop snap or picture of this page for future reference so you can look at these tips when your question has been up on Brainly for too long like I do. Good luck in math. Have fun and take care; God Bless! :) I'm tired, now LOL - I'm going to bed soon XD. :3

A restaurant offers three sizes of coffee and four differerſt types of coffee.
Kruka [31]

Answer: 864

=======================================================

Work Shown:

There are,

 • 3 sizes of coffee
 • 4 types of coffee
 • 2 choices for cream (you pick it or you leave it out)
 • 2 choices for sugar (same idea as the cream)

This means there are 3*4*2*2 = 12*4 = 48 different coffees. We'll use this value later, so let A = 48.

There are 6 bagel options. Also, there are 3 choices in terms of if you order the bagel plain, with butter, or with cream cheese. This leads to 6*3 = 18 different ways to order a bagel. Let B = 18.

Multiply the values of A and B to get the final answer

A*B = 48*18 = 864

There are 864 ways to order a coffee and bagel at this restaurant.

--------------

If you're curious why you multiply the values out, consider this smaller example.

Let's say you had 3 choices of coffee and 2 choices for a bagel. Form a table with 3 rows and 2 columns. Place the different coffee choices along the left to form each row. Along the top, we'll have the two different bagel choices (one for each column).

This 3 by 2 table leads to 3*2 = 6 individual table cells inside. Each cell in the table represents a coffee+bagel combo. This idea is applied to the section above, but we have a lot more options.

When a farmer harvests apples he expects 6% of the apples to be rotten how many apples would the farmer expect to be rotting whe
guapka [62]

The question is incomplete had the number of harvested apples isn't given.

Answer:

0.06n

Step-by-step explanation:

When a farmer harvests apples he expects 6% of the apples to be rotten how many apples would the farmer expect to be rotting when harvesting apples

The expected percentage of rotten apples when harvesting = 6%

The expected number of rotten apples can be obtained by taking the product of the expected percentage and the number of apples to be harvested.

Since the number of harvested apples isn't given,

Let the number of harvested apples = n

Therefore, the expected number of rotten apples will be :

6% * n

0.06n

Note : you can easily substitute the actual number of harvested apples for n in the equto get the actual answer
