The answer to this question could either be $\frac{7}{3} \ or\ 2.33333...$ and I will show you how to solve for it.

$3x-5=2\\\\{Add\:}5\mathrm{\:to\:both\:sides}\\3x-5+5=2+5\\\\Simplify\\3x=7\\\\\mathrm{Divide\:both\:sides\:by\:}3\\\frac{3x}{3}=\frac{7}{3}\\\\\mathrm{Simplify}\\x=\frac{7}{3}$

And thats why the answer is $\frac{7}{3}$, but if you use a calculator to divide 7 by 3 you will get 2.33333... as a answer as well
