In the lytic cycle the virus replicates and kills(lyses) the host cell but in the lysogenic cycle, viral DNA is just incorporated into the host genome where it stays and is passed on to following generations. So a lytic infection kills the cells and would be a more severe infection compared to a lysogenic one.

Answer: A key difference between the lytic and lysogenic phage cycles is that in the lytic phage, the viral DNA exists as a separate molecule within the bacterial cell, and replicates separately from the host bacterial DNA.

A large gradient for sodium exists across a cell membrane. Channels are opened and sodium diffuses freely through the channels.
skelet666 [1.2K]

Answer:

Once the sodium channels opens and sodium is allowed to diffuse freely in and out of the cell, this will cause a large change in entropy and enthalpy. Values for both these quantities will increase significantly, however, the change in free energy will be small when we compare the open and closed state of the sodium channel. With regards to the stability of the system, it will reach equilibrium because the concentration of sodium ions is being allowed to diffuse without any regulation.

A student wants to view a cell’s mitochondria. Which of the following microscopes would show a mitochondria’s internal structure
Olegator [25]

Answer:

Transmission Electron Microscope would show a mitochondria’s internal structure in the greatest detail

Explanation:

The TEM is used to visualise the internal structure of the cells. This works when an electron beam of light passes through the object or the sample, it shows a clear presence of the organelles inside the cell. The TEM uses the energetic electron which provides the morphological as well as compositional and crystallographic features of the cell. Its maximum potential is about 1 nanometre. Among the most powerful microscope for studying the internal organelles of the cell TEM is one.

Shifting cultivation is a system where a farmer uses a piece of land, only to abandon or alter the initial use a short time later. Advantages of shifting cultivation includes; enhance control of pest and disease, inorganic matter addition which provide nutrient to crop, an effective way of weed control
