Answer:

The alphabet sounds (when the vowel “says its name”) are called “long vowels.” We call them 'long' because we hold them longer than the short sounds. However, they are completely different sounds-- not a longer version of the same sound.

As a writer, I like to start my books off with a brief intro of the main character (for example

Not exactly that way, but i just like giving the readers a chance to get to known the main character before the actual story begins.
