In WWI German aggression caused the Unites States to enter the war. This was because of the Zimmerman telegram. In WWII Japanese aggression caused the United States to enter the war. This was because of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

It wasn't just the Zimmerman telegram in WWI, but the sinking of three merchant ships and a passenger ship as well. WE entered WWII because of Pearl Harbor.
