Jillian’s school is selling tickets for a play. The tickets cost $10.50 for adults and $3.75 for students. The ticket sales for

opening night totaled $2071.50. The equation 10.50a + 3.75b = 2071.50, where a is the number of adult tickets sold and b is the number of student tickets sold, can be used to find the number of adult and student tickets. If 82 students attended, how may adult tickets were sold?

3.75 x 82 = 307.5    2071.5 - 307.5 = 1764    1764 / 10.5 = 168 I think this should be correct. 168 adult tickets were sold

Find the values of x and y so that ABCD will be a parallelogram.
arsen [322]

Given:

Figure of a parallelogram.

To find:

The values of x and y.

Solution:

If two parallel lines intersected by a transversal line, then the alternate interior angles are congruent.

4x=24            (Alternate interior angles)

x=\dfrac{24}{4}

x=6

And,

y-10=32            (Alternate interior angles)

y=32+10

y=42

The value of x is 6 and the value of y is 42.

Therefore, the correct option is C.

Which equations below represent lines that are perpendicular to the line that contains (1, -2) and (3, 4)? (CHECK PICS FOR ANSWE
Gala2k [10]

First, let's find the slope of the line from the points given.

m = (4 - - 2) / (3 - 1)

m = 6 / 2

m = 3

Secondly, we know that a line perpendicular to the original must have a slope that is the opposite reciprocal of the original. For the given points, the opposite reciprocal slope would be -1/3.

Now, we can put all of the equations below into slope intercept form and find the ones that have a slope of -1/3.

Equation 1: Correct

y = -1/3x - 5

Equation 2: Incorrect

y = 3x - 3

Equation 3: Incorrect

y - 2 = 3(x + 1)

y - 2 = 3x + 1

y = 3x + 2

Equation 4: Correct

x + 3y = 9

3y = -x + 9

y = -1/3x + 3

Equation 5: Incorrect

3x + y = -5

y = -3x - 5

Hope this helps!! :)
