Add all of the smokers, sports players and both and that is the denominator then the ones who do both is the numerator

If you mutiply 5000 and 1000000 how much would you get?
Law Incorporation [45]

You need to annex the zeroes. Don't worry about the 9 zeroes. Just do 5*1 which equals to 5. Then add the 9 zeroes back.

5,000*1,000,000 = 5,000,000,000

KengaRu [80]
I did the calculations two ways. The last data item was 185.00! I wasn't sure if this was correct or a typo. With 185.00: mean 33.31. STD dev 53.68. With 185.00 changed to 18.50: mean 14.81 std dev 2.75

If f Subscript x(a,b)equals f Subscript y(a,b)equals0, does it follow that f has a local maximum or local minimum at (a,b)?
Anna [14]

Answer:

D.

Step-by-step explanation:

The point must be a critical point but it could be a saddle point. If the point is a saddle point it would not be neither a maximum nor a minimum. So it must be critical but it does not follow directly that it has a local maximum or local minimum.

Therefore D. (a,b) would be a candidate, but is not necessarily a maximum or minimum. It could be a saddle.

PLEASE HELP! Solve each of the following by using the general quadratic formula.
Archy [21]

Using the quadratic formula, the solutions are:

a) x = \frac{3 \pm \sqrt{41}}{4}

b) x = 1 \pm 2i

<h3>What is a quadratic function?</h3>

A quadratic function is given according to the following rule:

y = ax^2 + bx + c

The solutions are:

x_1 = \frac{-b + \sqrt{\Delta}}{2a}

x_2 = \frac{-b - \sqrt{\Delta}}{2a}

In which:

\Delta = b^2 - 4ac

Item a:

The coefficients are a = 2, b = -3, c = -4, hence:

  • \Delta = (-3)^2 - 4(2)(-4) = 41
  • x_1 = \frac{3 + \sqrt{41}}{4}
  • x_2 = \frac{3 - \sqrt{41}}{4}

Item b:

The coefficients are a = 1, b = 2, c = 2, hence:

  • \Delta = (2)^2 - 4(1)(2) = -4
  • x_1 = \frac{2 + \sqrt{-4}}{2} = 1 + 2i
  • x_2 = \frac{2 - \sqrt{-4}}{2} = 1 - 2i
