Write a letter to your friend infroming him about at least three thing why he should no stop school

English
1 answer:
Andru [333]3 years ago

To [Friend]:

Here are three reasons why you should not end your education.

  1. Without education, you would not be able to go to college and therefore, you would not make much -- or any at all -- money.
  2. Education allows us to convert information into knowledge. Ending your education early would mean ending your ability to obtain knowledge. Therefore, you would probably end up homeless on the streets.
  3. People take away one's education to turn him or herself into slaves. By ending your education, you are willing to become a slave. Slaves complete laborious work and were often punished by whipping, beating, and burning.

Thank you for listening to my concerns and reasonings on why you should not end your education.

From,

In story of "The Life of Christopher Columbus", by Edward Everett, the Columbus's journal would be very different if he had written it only for personal use and not for Ferdinand and Isabella.

Who was Christopher Columbus"?

Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer and navigator who was born between 25 August and 31 October 1451 and died on May 20, 1506, completed four Spanish-based expeditions across the Atlantic Ocean under the patronage of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain, paving the way for later widespread European exploration and colonization of the Americas. Known European contact with the Caribbean, Central America, and South America began with his travels.

The writings of Colombus display a business perspective on the discovery of the new continent. Colombus wanted to convince the monarchs that his exploratory journeys were useful and merited their money. He therefore wrote data demonstrating the new continent's financial success. If he had produced the papers for personal use instead of for business, they wouldn't have been as relevant to the monarchy and would have been written differently. In this instance, Colombus would provide more somber details and describe the new continent in terms of the wonders and beauties he discovered in regard to both the topography and the local populace.

Jonah is reading the passage and believes that the phrase "icy smile" is an oxymoron. Why does he believe this? A. The words "ic
timofeeve [1]

Answer: B

Explanation:

"icy" when describing a person's attitude or personality means cold, rude, etc, but a smile is usually happy and warm.

Personally I don't think it's an oxymoron- it's definitely possible to do a rude, fake smile. But B is what an oxymoron is- two words that are opposite in meaning and shouldn't technically be used together- like "awfully good" or "bittersweet."

To what extent was mayella free to speak the truth? in to kill a mocking bird
agasfer [191]
Technically since Mayella is under oath while she is testifying in court, she should be speaking only the truth and nothing but the truth. However, she does not feel completely free to speak the truth.
If she were to speak the truth and tell the court that her father is the one who beat her, it is very likely that she would receive another beating. Fearing for her safety is one obstacle that keeps her from telling the whole truth.
Societal rules are also keeping her from speaking the truth. If Mayella were to confess that she is the one who made advances towards Tom, she would be further shunned by the townspeople. During the trial, she is gaining a lot of attention. Normally, she is rarely seen by the people in town, and when she is rarely is she acknowledged. This trial gives her attention. By revealing that she is not as innocent as she appears to be, she would lose her stage.
