Below are the two events that happened after the Tiananmen Square Protests:
3. The image of the Tank Man appeared on the front pages of Chinese newspapers.
Tank Man is an unknown protester who opposed the tanks during the protest. He became a symbol for civil disobedience.
4. There were large-scale protests against the incident outside China.
Criticisms from around the world flooded China - Europe, Americas, Australia, Asia. There were also demonstrations by Chinese students in various cities outside China.
Capitalism: is an economic system in which the factors of production are privately owned and money is invested in business ventures to make a profit.
(Basically Capitalism referred to people who believed that the government should not interfere with businesses)
Socialism: the factors of production are owned by the public and operate for the welfare of all.
The main difference between the two was that in capitalism, business owners wanted to run everything themselves. They didn't want help from the government at all. Socialism was when the people wanted "some government" involved within the businesses. In summary, the main difference is the amount of government that was allowed to take over in a business.
In the USA?
A major event for the Women’s Suffrage Crusade is 1848’s Seneca Falls Convention where prominent leaders of the movement (such as Elizabeth Cady Stanton) drafted a constitution very similar to the current country’s constitution with the addition of women being added with “all men are created equal”, etc.
In 1920 the 19th Amendment was passed which gave women the right to vote.
The women’s suffrage movement was kind of put on the back burner due to the rise of World War 1 (not saying women’s right to vote wasn’t important but it was a global war). However, WWI brought the issue back to light when men returned home to find that women had taken their jobs at factories, etc and didn’t want to be pushed back into the home.
At the time, there were women who believed that women’s suffrage would cause problems and therefore didn’t support it.
2020 was the 100th year anniversary of women’s suffrage.
