The ancient Egyptians was a civilization that was centered around the Nile river.  Much of what we know about them comes from a stylized form of writing called hieroglyphics.  They were run by Pharaohs which were considered Gods on earth.  The type of government considered a theocracy.  The Nile river allowed them to farm year after year because the floods brought in new nutrients and formed flat terrace that was ideal for plowing.
