During the Cold War, the United States made it clear it was focusing on the end of Communism. Within Asia, many countries fell victim to the economic system, including the northern part of Korea. I say northern part because back then, Korea was simply one nation, but it split when the north wanted communism, and the south wanted to keep its democratic republic.

To make sure the south did not fall victim to the north, the United States helped fight back in what is known as the stalemate of the Cold War which is the Korean War, which lasted from June 25th, 1950 - July 27, 1953.
