Answer:

Urbanization is the increase in the number of people living in the urban areas. More than half of the worlds population live in the urban areas. Urbanization occurs mainly through 2 ways-Rural - urban migration and increase in the number of people living in a particular area. Such that small towns start getting bigger and bigger.

Explanation:

However, some urbanization happen at different speed and time. Urbanization of Eastern Asia is happening at a faster speed over a small times compared to developed economies within the same period. Urbanization of of Eastern Asia in the last 20 years is seem to be the fastest urbanization growing from 18% to 60% between 1950 to 2015.

While similar growth in population in advanced economies happened within 80 years and above.

The dearth of infrastructures in the rural areas are forcing the exponetial increase of population in the urban areas, especially in the developing economies.

Describe the formation, characteristics, and minerals present of the following rocks:
SOVA2 [1]

Explanation:

Serpentine

 • Formation: it forms through serpentinization, a geological low-temperature metamorphic process where low-silica mafic and ultramafic rocks are oxidized and hydrolyzed with water into serpentinite.
 • Characteristics: rich in magnesium and water, light to dark green, greasy-looking and slippery feeling. It can resist the transfer of heat. A source of asbestos, architectural stone, ornamental stone, gem material
 • Minerals present: it follows the formula (X)2-3(Y)2O5(OH)4 where X can be magnesium, iron, nickel, aluminum, zinc, or manganese; and, Y will be silicon, aluminum, or iron.

Green Schist

 • Formation: they form by regional metamorphism of mafic igneous rocks through depth of burial, and proximity to batholiths.
 • Characteristics: The green is due to abundant green chlorite
 • Minerals present: actinolite and epidote mainly, but they can also include quartz, orthoclase, talc, carbonate minerals, and amphibole.

Basalt Pillow

 • Formation: it forms when lava of basaltic compositions erupted underwater. The rapid cooling of the lava forms the pillow-shaped bodies.
 • Characteristics: they are volcanic igneous rocks, very dark, almost black color.
 • Minerals present: Basalt has a lower percentage of silica and a higher percentage of iron and magnesium than other volcanic rocks.

Umber

 • Formation: it develops in Cyprus massive sulfide deposits.
 • Characteristics: is not one precise color, but a range of different colors, from medium to dark, from yellowish to reddish to grayish depending on the iron oxide and manganese in the clay
 • Minerals present: contains iron oxide and manganese oxide and sulfide precipitates like pyrite.

I hope you find this information useful and interesting! Good luck!

Question 13(Multiple Choice Worth 3 points) Which of the following does not accompany volcanic activity in the Pacific Northwest
svetoff [14.1K]

Ocean ridge does not accompany volcanic activity in the Pacific Northwest.

Explanation:

In this process the denser oceanic plate force the thinner continental plate to sink into the mantle. This region is referred as subduction zone, where it results in intense volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.

The denser Pacific plate sinks because of the chunk pull impact and it likewise prompts the development of mountains. This sort of impact creates profound center seismic tremors.

It isn't related with the maritime edge as the mid-maritime edge shapes in a disparate plate limit. In the Pacific Northwest , the volcanic activity is carried out by the geological process majorly by subduction.
