Huck and Jim were happy as the civilization was worse for them to live in/survive than the wildness of the river. As they both want freedom Jim from slavery and Huck from the society and civilized world.
It is so because it was the civilized world that gave Huck grief, but found himself happy, free, comfortable, and satisfied when he was alone and down to the riverside.
Huck and Jim see nature as the best way to leave society and civilization and his journey down the river confirms this view of nature in the novel. They float down the river they contemplate the sights surrounding the river bank.
