The food we provide us energy in the form of calories, which is required to perform daily activities and survive. This energy allows us to breathe, walk or run, laugh and even helps in the circulation of blood in the body.
The calories varies with the age depending upon age, height, sex and activity level of the person. Calories are required to be higher during the teenage age as it is the period of rapid growth and development. In boys an average of 2800 calories in a day is required but for girls an average of 2200 calories a day is required.
