Salt Lake City, Utah is located in a warm desert like area where there are little to no bodies of water for evaporation. New York City however, is located right on the east coast next to an ocean which allows for water to evaporate and fall over New York more than in Utah. This is also why New York gets more snow in the winter. This is known as the lake effect.

Answer:

The Salt lake city of Utah is located in a region that experiences a semi-arid type of climate, where the summers are hot and dry and winters are cold and snowy. Here, the region lacks in the water content as a result of which the rate of evaporation is significantly low. Due to this, there occurs less annual precipitation.

On the other hand, the city of New York is located in a region where it experiences a humid subtropical type of climate. There is abundant water in this region and the rate of evaporation is quite rapid. As a result of which, the annual precipitation level is moderate.

Thus, due to their geographical and latitudinal location, the difference in the moisture content and evaporation rate, there occurs higher annual rainfall in New York City (46.23 inches) in comparison to the Salt lake city, Utah (18.58 inches).

How is Earth’s structure related to the creation of continents, oceans, and mountain ranges?
tigry1 [53]
The topmost layer of the earth (aside from the atmospher) would be the crust. It is made up of tectonic plates that move in different directions. The collisons and abrasions made by these plates sliding and crashing into each other means that mountain ranges pop up like wrinkles, and continents can move around over time. This happens over millions of years.
