What is the significance of montresor's name dress, coat of arms, and family motto?

History

The coat of arms gives us a motive to comprehend why Montresor is so intolerant in getting vengeance from Fortunato. The picture on the coat of arms is one of a golden foot devastating a snake which has its fangs entrenched in the heel of the foot. The saying of the Montresor is “nemo me impune lacessit.” When translated in English, it means no one chastises me and gets gone with it. Fortunato had obviously disrespected Montresor’s name at some point. Just as his family coat of arms speaks so. The picture strengthens that image. Evidentially, Montresor contemplates Fortunato to be the snake and Montresor is the foot that is soon to crush and slaughter him.
