You can group first two conjunctions and second two:
x^3 - 9x^2 + 5x - 45=(x^3-9x^2)+(5x-45).
In first brackets you have common x^2 and in second brackets common is 5:
(x^3-9x^2)+(5x-45)=x^2(x-9)+5(x-9)=(x-9)(x^2+5).

Triss [41]

Answer:

Charlie's solution is incorrect.

Part A: The equation must be divided by the number next to the variable. So 5x will be divided by 5 which will equal x, and 30 will be divided by 5 which equals 6. The final answer will be x=6.

Part B: The equation will have one solution because there is only one way to solve it.

Emily is 4 times as old as Tiffany. In ten years time, Emily will be twice as old as Tiffany . Find their ages.
Sholpan [36]

Question:

Emily is 4 times as old as Tiffany. In ten years time, Emily will be twice as old as Tiffany. Find their ages.

Solution:

 • Let the age of Tiffany be x years.
 • Then, the age of Emily = 4x years.
 • After 10 years, the age of Tiffany will be (x+10) years.
 • After 10 years, the age of Emily will be (4x+10) years.
 • Therefore, by the problem

4x + 10 = 2(x + 10) \\ = 4x + 10 = 2x + 20 \\ = > 4x - 2x = 20 - 10 \\ = > 2x = 10 \\ = > x = \frac{10}{2} \\ = > x = 5

 • So, Tiffany's present age = 5 years.
 • Emily's present age = (4×5) years = 20 years.

Answer:

Emily's age is 20 years and Tiffany's age is 5 years.

Hope it helps!

An art student wishes to create a clay sphere as part of a sculpture. If the clay’s density is approximately 88 pounds per cubic
enyata [817]

Answer:

The weight of the sphere = 2947 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets revise the volume of the sphere

- The volume of the sphere is 4/3 π r³, where r is the radius of

 the sphere

- Density = mass ÷ volume

- Mass is the weight and volume is the size, so density is weight

divided through size

- Density = weight ÷ volume

* Now lets solve the problem

∵ The clay's density ≅ 88 pounds/cubic foot

∵ The radius of the sphere is 2 feet

∵ The volume of the sphere = 4/3 π r³

∴ The volume of the sphere = 4/3 π (2)³ = 32/3 π feet³

∵ Density = weight/volume ⇒ by using cross multiply

∴ Weight = density × volume

∵ Density = 88 pounds/foot³

∵ Volume = 32/3 π feet³

∵ π = 3.14

∴ The weight of the sphere = 88 × 32/3 × 3.14 = 2947 pounds
