Cue dependent forgetting is one of the five Cognitive psychology theories in  forgetting theory. It means sometimes some memories are forgotten or cannot be recalled because those memories cannot be retrieved.

In the context, Jane went to the kitchen to get a bulb from the kitchen cabinet  but returns back without any bulb. Soon she recalls why she went to the kitchen after she sees the flickering bulb in the living room. Thus here Jane forgets as to why she came to the kitchen and only recalls when she saw the flickering bulb. Thus this shows cue dependent failure of Jane.
