<u>Give</u><u>n</u><u>:</u>

  • A ladder is leant against a wall of height 5m.
  • The foot of ladder is 12m away from the wall.

<u>To</u><u> </u><u>Find</u><u>:</u>

  • The length of ladder.

<u>Conc</u><u>ept</u><u> Used</u><u>:</u>

  • We will use Pythagoras Theorem.

<u>An</u><u>swer</u><u>:</u>

Here given

  • Vertical height = 5m.
  • Base = 12m.

Here the length of ladder is equal to hypotenuse of ∆ so formed.

Now in a right angled ∆ ,

=> (hypotenuse)² = (pependicular)²+(base)².

=> h ² = (12m)²+(5m)²

=> h² = 144m² + 25m².

=> h² = 169m².

=> h = √169m².

=> h = 13m.

<u>He</u><u>nce</u><u> the</u><u> required</u><u> answer</u><u> is</u><u> </u><u>1</u><u>3</u><u>m</u><u>.</u>

Answer: 13m

Step-by-step explanation:

Use Pythagorean theorem: a²+b²=c²

5²+12²=c²

25+144=c²

c²=169

c=13 (even if it is true that there are positive and negative solution, but length cannot be negative)

Question #25:

One way to solve this is by multiplying the number of packages per serving by the number of guests.

1/4 * 16 = 4 packages to serve 16 guests. This means he doesn't have enough.

A second way to solve this is by diving the number of packages by the number of packages it takes to make on serving.

3 1/2 ÷ 1/4 = 14 guests he can serve. This means he doesn't have enough.

Question #26:

First, find common denominators.

2/3 = 8/12

1/4 = 3/12

Second, subtract.

8/12 - 3/12 = 5/12

Therefore, the tank is 5/12 full at the end of the trip.

Question #27:

1/2 is cut off then 1/3 is cut off. This means 3/6 was cut off to bundle newspapers, then 1/6 was cut off to make parcel. In all, 4/6 was cut off the original string. Afterwards, 2/6 was left over. So, just multiply; 2 * 3 = 6.

Therefore, the original string was as a total of 6 meters.

Best of Luck!

What is the slope of the line threw (-7,-2) and (-6,7)
miv72 [106K]

Answer:

9

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the slope of a line, calculate the distance between points with a ratio of vertical to horizontal distance. This is done using the formula:

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Here the points are (-7,-2) and (-6,7). Substitute and simplify.

m=\frac{7--2}{-6--7}=\frac{7+2}{-6+7}=\frac{9}{1}=9

Directions: calculate the rise,run, and slope on the line below
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer: Rise = 3 Run=1  slope=3/1 or just 3

Step-by-step explanation:

start at the left most point and count up to the line that contains the 2nd point

so rise 3

then count over to that 2nd point

so run is 1

slope is rise/run so 3/1
