In the election of 1848 the major parties were forced to take stand on slavery because the Free Soil Party, and the fact that slavey was the most highly contested issue in the US.
The Incans were fighting in their home territory with a much larger army and neither side outmatched each other in leadership, however the Spaniards guns helped annihilate the Incan forces.
