A drug user's body does not learn to tolerate the main effect and the side effect of the drug at the same rate. A. True B. False

TRUE.
What is tolerance? Tolerance means that to get the same high, the person needs to drink more alcohol or take more drugs. Over time, with regular use, a user needs more and more of the drug to get the desired effect. Increased tolerance means an increased risk for overdose, for two reasons. First, every drug has a main effect (the effect the user wants) and side effects (effects that the user does not want). Tolerance does not develop evenly to all effects of a drug. For example, barbiturate users develop tolerance to the desired mood-altering effect of the drug faster than they do to the side effect of depressing breathing. When the user increases the dose to get the desired effect, they risk taking enough to cause them to stop breathing, which of course would cause death. Second, if a user has not used the drug for a while, tolerance will decrease. Tolerance to any drug decreases with non-use. After a period of not using a drug, the dose the user had previously used may now be enough to cause a fatal overdose. Heroin is a good example of a drug for which tolerance can drop very quickly, and many people die every year from heroin overdose.

In paragraph 4, Alice says to herself: “‘not that it signifies much…. I should think it would be quite as much use in the trial
alukav5142 [94]

Answer:

The correct answer is C)

Explanation:

To Alice, the entire trial was a sham. There was a Jury (of which the Lizard was a member) that was incapable of reading. If this was so, how could they evaluate any evidence that spoke to her credit or demerit?

For in the same Chapter 7, a letter or a collection of verses was read which according to the Queen was a piece of evidence against Alice. The Jury, even upon the challenge to do so by Alice, could not interpret the same.

Cheers!

Earl discovered many beetles examining the rosebushes. Correct the misplaced modifier
skelet666 [1.2K]

Answer:

Examining the rosebushes, Earl discovered many beetles.

Explanation:

A misplaced modifier is a word or more complex structure (phrase or a clause) that modifies the wrong word in a sentence giving it grammatically correct, but completely illogical meaning. So this sentence is telling us that Earl discovered many beetles that were examining the rosebushes. It is obvious that beetles can not examine and that this phrase (examining the rosebushes) is modifying the wrong word ( beetles instead of Earl).

We also have to pay attention to punctuation which changes when we place modifier on the right place, comma should separate modifier and the rest of the sentence.
