I believe that the correct answer is Metaphor (C).

A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes an object or action in a way that it isn´t literally true, but helps to explain an idea or make a comparison. If you make a literal interpretation of what the metaphor says it would be pretty silly sometimes.

Metaphors can make the words came to life, can be used to make a subject more realatable to the reader or to explain a complex thought in an easier way.

 Here are the basics:

  • A metaphor states than one thing is another
  • It equates those two things not because they actually are the same, but for the sake of comparison or symbolism
  • If you take a metaphor literally, it will probably sound very strage.

In the example given the author compares Tina with a clever fox, He/she does this in order to say that she is very inteligent in the trivia game. Foxes are often presented in literature as clever beings that enjoy defeating their opponents in various games by their intelectual cappacities or by cheating. It´s a symbolic comparisson.

If you take the sentence literally Tina would be a fox but she is clearly a human being that plays against the author and beat him/her.

In the options there is a more detailed type of metaphor, the implied metaphor. But this is not the right option because these metaphors part from a comparisson that allows to make a more subtle and sophisticated one. But in this case it´s only a metaphor because it did not implied anything.

I hope this answer help you. Greetings.
