The Shroud of Turin was considered to be associated to the crucifixion and burial of Jesus Christ. The radiocarbon dating method used on the cloth to determine the age of the piece of material and the authenticity.

In October 13 of that year, Cardinal Ballestrero announced the official results. The radio carbon testing of the shroud dated back to 1260-1390 AD with a 95% confidence.

The test results were conducted from tests from Tucson, Oxford and Zurich. The results from these three laboratories were compatible with one another and none of the mean results were up for questioning.
