He argued that security is a concept or something which the human species needs drastically in order to be able to function properly. This of course has many different opposing views, however, it was a view of Hobbes that this was the case.

Pros are that there is less money going toward military expansions and training so we are saving money for other things like cancer research or paying of dept. Cons would be that we would have no defense if a nation decides to take us over. We would no longer be the military superpower of the world.
