Natasha_Volkova [10]

Answer: 1. the recovery of the city of Atlanta from the destruction of the Civil War.

Explanation:

The International Cotton Exposition was held for about three months in 1881 from October to December in Atlanta. It was held to show that Atlanta and the South had finally recovered from the devastation of the Civil War and were now starting to regain their political position with the end of the Reconstruction era.

Explain what Supreme Court justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. meant when he said, “Taxation is the price we pay for civilization.
Irina-Kira [14]
Supreme Court justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. meant that citizens must pay taxes as a way to help society stay organized.

I agree with him because taxes pay for several different services that are essential to American society. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

1) Public schools- School funding, teacher salaries, and the support staff of a school are all paid by tax dollars.

2) Emergency services- Police departments and fire departments are also funded by tax money.

3) Government services/employees- The people who make our laws and who provide help through government programs are all paid for their efforts thanks to taxes.
