Answer:

d. A bull moose.

Explanation:

Jack London's "The Call of the Wild" revolves around the adventures and live of a pet dog Buck, who rose from being a house pet to a leader of a pack of wolves. Buck's various experiences and even misfortunes led hi to his most beloved master John Thornton who Buck loves so dearly. But after the death of Thornton, he lives a life of a wild animal, a king of beasts overcoming great obstacles and even opposition.

In "Chapter VII: The Sounding of the Call", the narrator tells of how Buck managed to kill a bear and hunt salmon by himself. He states "<em>He was a killer, a thing that preyed, living on the things that lived, unaided, alone, by virtue of his own strength and prowess, surviving triumphantly in a hostile environment where only the strong survived. Because of all this he became possessed of a great pride in himself</em>". This made Buck more bolder in his approach to animals in the wild, leading him to desire a more challenging prey, "<em>he wished strongly for larger and more formidable quarry, and he came upon it one day on the divide at the head of the creek</em>". This came in the form of the bull moose, who with its wide antlers "<em>was in a savage temper, and, standing over six feet from the ground</em>". In the end, Buck defeated the bull after four days.

Which statement best describes the purpose of using repetition in the excerpt
Allushta [10]
<span>D. The use of repetition creates a strong link in the listeners minds between Clark Jefferson and negative things.

The repetition here is Clark Jefferson. The speaker starts every sentence with Clark Jefferson to solidify in the audience's head who the person is talking about. Every statement is a negative statement about Clark Jefferson. This is so that every time you hear his name it is associated with something negative. This is in turn will most likely influence your vote away from Clark Jefferson and towards the speaker.
