Answer:

C. Earth's solid surface layer sits on a moving, semiliquid layer.

Explanation:

Earth is highly tectonically active because the solid layer of the earth sits on a moving, semi-liquid layer.

The earth's crust is broken into slabs. Together with part of the upper mantle, they form a layer called the lithosphere. These solid lithospheric bodies are called tectonic plates.

  • Under the plates is a semi-molten layer under great temperature.
  • As the molten layer moves, it carries the lithosphere on top of it.
  • This causes the movement of the plates in different directions.
  • The semi-liquid layer is called the asthenosphere

This is the reason why the earth is tectonically active.

Alex

Answer:

Writing

Explanation:

Hunter-gatherer societies had religion, art, language, and many other things that other later societies also had. But they didn't know how to write. Writing came later with more permanent settlements that were made possible by humans learning how to cultivate and grow their food and didn't have to move that much, or at all anymore.

A 163 square-kilometer (km2) small island is found 2,000km from the mainland. A second, larger, 230,000km2 island is found 1,000
Maru [420]

Answer:

4) The rate of species extinction is lower on the small island than on the large island.

Explanation:

The theory of island biogeography suggested that because of the size and links to the mainland. Fewer species that are not from the island will invade because the distance from the mainland is greater. The threat of extinction due to this is low. The small island also has a lower capacity for different species due to limited resources. This would mean that there are simply fewer species to go extinct.
