Paul Gruninger backdated the visas of 3,600 jews and falsified other documents to indicate that the jews had fled to Switzerland when they when still able to enter.
Paul was dismissed from the police force, he was convicted, and was fined. He received no pension and died a poor man.

This false information drove the Union Army of the Cumberland back into Chattanooga, Tennessee, from Chickamauga Creek where, after days of battle, Confederates were victorious.

Spain gave up Guam, Puerto Rico, its possessions in the West Indies, and the Philippines in exchange for a U.S. payment of $20 million.
