Add 3 to get a multiple of 7 with last digit 1. The only number in that range is 91, so our number is 88.

The answer is 88 because if u divide by seven the highest it can reach it 84 which has a remainder of 4 while if we divide it with 88 the remainder is 8 so its 88

A college financial adviser is interested in studying the number of students at his college who apply for loans when entering gr
Shalnov [3]

Answer:

0.7429

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that  Of the 721 students at the college, 299 of them apply for loans when entering graduate school.

So p = proportion of students applying for loans = \frac{299}{721} =0.415

Each student is independent of the other and there are two outcomes

Hence out of 45 students the no of students who apply for loans say X is binomial with n =45 and p = 0.415

the probability that more than 16 of them apply for loans

=P(X>16)\\= \Sigma_{x=17} ^{45} P(x)\\=\Sigma_{x=17} ^{45}(45Cx (0.415)^x (0.585)^{25-x} )

=0.7429

What is the value of y in the equation 5x + 2y = 20, when x = 0.3?
Nikolay [14]
Y=9.25 because inorder to solve this we need to first take 5*.3 which equals 1.5 now that we have this we can move on we now have the equation 1.5 + 2y = 20 so now we need to continue working on getting y by it self so we subtract 1.5 from each side and then that leaves us with 2y=18.5 now we divide by 2 which leaves us with y=9.25 enjoy=)

If (x^2 - 1) is a factor of ax^4 + bx^3 + cx^2 + dx + e, show that a + c + e = b + d = 0
alisha [4.7K]
x^2-1=x^2-1^2=(x-1)(x+1)

If x²-1 is a factor of the polynomial, both x-1 and x+1 are factors of it.

According to the remainder theorem, if a binomial x-a is a factor of a polynomial p(x), then p(a)=0.

If x-1 and x+1 are factors of the polynomial p(x)=ax⁴+bx³+cx²+dx+e, then p(1)=0 and p(-1)=0.

p(1)=a \times 1^4+b \times 1^3 + c \times 1^2+ d \times 1+e \\
p(-1)=a \times (-1)^4 + b \times (-1)^3 + c \times (-1)^2 + d \times (-1)+e \\ \\
p(1)=a+b+c+d+e \\
p(-1)=a-b+c-d+e \\ \\
p(1)=0 \\
p(-1)=0 \\ \\ \hbox{add both equations:} \\
a+b+c+d+e=0 \\
\underline{a-b+c-d+e=0} \\
2a+2c+2e=0 \\
2(a+c+e)=0 \\
a+c+e=0 \\ \\
\hbox{substitute 0 for a+c+e in the first equation:} \\
a+b+c+d+e=0 \\
(a+c+e)+b+d=0 \\
0+b+d=0 \\
b+d=0 \\ \\
\boxed{a+c+e=b+d=0} \\
